A call to action: Letters for Louisa.
The end is fast approaching and it will soon be too late for sending letters. Your request must be mailed by January 12th.
Please join us in writing letters to Judge Liliana S. DeAvila-Silebi. She will be sentencing George Hartwig for his heinous crimes on January 27th, 2012. Our goal is to have the Judge sentence this beast to the maximum and consecutive sentences, rather than the minimum and concurrent sentences.
Louisa’s abuser not only pled guilty to all 10 counts, including 2 counts of attempted murder, he then had the audacity to beg for leniency. He asked for the minimum sentences allowed and to serve them concurrently. Instead of up to 68 years – he wants 10-20. If the Judge takes the time served in the local jail into consideration and the fact that most criminals only serve about 85% of their sentences, he could be out of jail in as little as 5 years!
Please help us stop this outrage, George was never brought to trial or sentenced for what he did to Denise. He was out without bail when he shot her sister. He got away with that Scott free!
Urge the judge to sentence him to serve the maximum time for the 2 most serious crimes he just plead out to, which would be 40 years. Also, urge the judge to make the sentences consecutive. If he serves the sentences consecutively he won’t be out for about 30 years.
Louisa will never recover and did not receive any leniency from George Hartwig. The least we can do for her make sure that George Hartwig doesn’t get leniency either.
If you haven’t read about what happened, please follow this link to story and pictures.

Please post to your blog and FaceBook pages.
We need hundreds of letters sent in to the Judge. Please help us let the Judge know, there is an army of women who are not willing to remain victims. We are important and we are crying out for justice! Louisa, asks for Justice.
Thanking you in advance for your support!

Dear Judge Liliana DeAvila-Silebi,
I am the President of the National Organization for Women-New York State and a friend of Betty Jean Kling. Ms. Kling is the former mother in law of George Hartwig.
As reported to me by Ms. Kling, George Hartwig, bludgeoned his estranged wife, a dying woman, Denise Richardson in the head before she died of cancer then returned and shot her sister, Louisa Richardson Rodas nearly killing her. He tried to kill his brother in law but according to reports, the gun jammed before he was taken down by a family member and subdued until the police came.
I understand that Hartwig has pleaded guilty to eight counts and threw himself on the mercy of the court asking for a minimal sentence based on his incapacity due to his proclaimed drug induced actions. Instead of consecutive sentences of 60 + years he wants 20 which will have him out of jail in about 12 years. Louisa Richardson Rodas will serve about 40 years because she is permanently in solitary confinement having lost half of her head from the shotgun blast. She remains completely healthy except she cannot sit, stand, speak, see, eat, or recognize her own children. She will live a long life of nothing! One must ask question, “Why should George Hartwig get less?”
Too many times, women who are victims of abuse pay the ultimate price. First by enduring the abuse and then by judges who do not sentence the perpetrator to the fullest extent of the law. We urge significant and effective sentences; we must eliminate or reduce plea deals and strictly enforce laws to eliminate Violence against Women. We ask you do so in this case as Hartwig is a repeat offender and his pleas are just another way of dodging what he deserves.
I understand that you are a fair jurist. I support full and consecutive sentencing.
Sincerely,
Marcia A. Pappas

Judge Liliana DeAvila-Silebi,
Your Honor,
George Hartwig will stand before you to be sentenced and I am writing to ask that your Honor sentence him to the maximum.
George Hartwig stood before you and asked for your mercy “I got very intoxicated,” Hartwig said Thursday in Superior Court in Hackensack. “I decided it would be a good idea to confront my mother-in-law. Unfortunately, I brought a weapon with me, and I mistook my sister-in-law for my mother-in-law.”
It is obvious from his statement that Georges intentions that night were not to merely confront a person but to murder a person that night.
The victim that night was Louisa Rodas and he believes he should be shown mercy because he was high and Louisa was not the person he intended to murder that night.
George Hartwig has never said he was sorry because George Hartwig believes he is the victim, a victim of circumstance, a plan that just went horribly wrong. He didn’t intend to shoot Louisa with the shotgun he unfortunately brought with him it was just unfortunate that she was the one home protecting her sister from another of his beating because of his unfortunate inability to control his anger because of his unfortunate lifelong use of drugs and alcohol.
George Hartwig is a monster and George Hartwig needs to be removed from society.
George Hartwig has stood before judges before and pleaded for mercy and because mercy was granted to him this monster was able to take the life of Louisa Rodas in the most horrific of circumstances. No mercy was shown to Denise, dying of cancer when he unfortunately bashed her head in order to steal her cancer pain medications and NO mercy was shown to Louisa who was unfortunately the one home protecting her dying sister when he unfortunately brought a shotgun into her home and fortunately blew her brains out unfortunately mistaking Louisa for his mother in law and NO mercy was shown to the family who buried Denise and buries Louisa every time they visit her.
I ask respectfully that when George Hartwig stands before you this time and asks for your Mercy because this is just an unfortunate event that your Honor tell George Hartwig it is unfortunate that you have to send him to prison for life.
George Hartwig is not the victim
and the only unfortunate in all of this is that he wasn’t sent to prison sooner.
